About this blog

This is my personal blog about my diagnosis with early onset prostate at the age of 43, my thoughts and feelings about it, my search for information and an appropriate course of action, and now my treatment experience.

In addition, I hope this might be useful resource for other people in my situation as this (information on prostate cancer for the under 50s) was something I went looking for, but could not easily find at the start of my journey.

Finally, it’s a way of letting people know what’s happening without the need to phone or email – not that I don’t look forward to or enjoy hearing from people that way, its just the phone may be engaged or there may be 100+ unread emails floating about.

If there’s something particular your looking for, use the search or the keywords on the right hand side, but otherwise:

  • For a brief description of the prostate and symptoms, look -> here
  • For the edited highlights of the blog, key events are listed -> here
  • For the complete diary, in a linear view, start reading -> here
  • For resources I have book marked, look -> here

Finally, please feel free to leave comments anywhere in the blog if you wish – it is easy for me to pick them up and respond to them.

    Hi Guy,
This is really powerful. If we can do anything to make life easier for you as you go through this, just say the word. Warm wishes for a speedy recovery – Jo

Guy – will be thinking of you, sorry to hear the news but pleased to see the proactive, informed tackling of it head on – positivity is powerful. Let me know if I can help out while you are away from us. Clearly as you want your students still to pass their course I can’t lecture for you, knowing diddly squat about Computer Science as I do, but if you leave your office in a mess and need a neat freak to tidy it up for you – I’m definitely your girl! Keep blogging and all the best, Sarah

Thank Sarah for the offer to tidy my office – but that’s a mess too far I think! Just need to make sure coffee cups are empty – don’t want to come back to intelligent life after a couple of weeks off.

    Hi Guy,
Great blogging. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
It goes without saying that if you need anything, please shout. I hope the treatments aren’t too painful or cause you too much discomfort.
My thoughts will be with you.
    Helen
